The Chaney family has been animal lovers all of their lives, having dogs, cats, turtles and fish as pets. During their marriage, Lisa and Ray had the memorable experiences together of loving and nurturing:
* A 4-month old dog from the Humane Society (mixed-breed puppy) named Mahja, who lived to be 16 years old.
* An adopted 7-week old puppy dog (Bichon Frise) they named Andre', who recently passed away at 14.5 years old.
* A young bird (parakeet) named Scooter, who lived to be 12 years old.
* A rescued bird (cockatiel) named Tiel, who lived to three years old.
* An adorable 3-year old dog (golden doodle) named Cody, whom they rescued in February, 2010.
* A lively rescued 2-year dog, (Labrador/Shepherd) named Donte', as their grand-dog, owned by their son.
Why Petsitting?
Ray always told Lisa there is a magical attraction and connection to her for children and animals and that one day she
had to follow her heart. While grieving the loss of their beloved dog Andre', this past February, Lisa realized her
need to connect with animals. The emotional debate began whether to adopt another pet so soon, but the quiet of the
house was too great. A wise friend at the veterinarian clinic told Lisa she was not replacing Andre', as no other
animal could, but she had so much love in her heart for another! After several weeks of searching on the internet and
going to see all the dogs looking for their "forever homes" Lisa and Ray adopted a precious rescue, Cody, a loving
1-year old Cock-a-Poo. No more quiet house! A few weeks later, Lisa and Ray decided to give their hearts to other
pets as well, caring for all pets as if they were their own...and so the idea of Just a "Pet" Away was born!

Testimonials:
(Emily Gibb, Buford): "Ray and Lisa from Just a "Pet" Away are the best thing to happen to my fur kids. Due to their wonderful service, I am fully comfortable leaving home my 2 cats and 2 dogs. They leave wonderful, detailed reports letting me know how my kids are and even make sure that my house doesn't ever appear as if I'm out of town. I am truly blessed to have found them."(Linda Hauptfuhrer, Dunwoody): "My dogs are so happy and tuckered out after Lisa and Ray visited with them while we were out of town for the day. I have happy, relaxed dogs and I didn't worry once about how they were doing while we were away - I knew they were in great hands. They even sent me a text photo of one of the dogs and left a report about what they all did so we would know what went on. Who else does that?! Thank you so much Lisa and Ray! I will be calling you again soon! :)"
(Pam Greider, Dacula): "Lisa & Ray are two of the most professional people I have encountered in a very long time; they are very concerned with the animals' welfare and happiness. They keep you informed and the little details they notice are amazing. Two of the nicest people! We have found our new friends."
(Lee Goodwin, Suwanee): "My dogs were not stressed at all when we returned. They bonded immediately to Lisa and Ray."
(Keri Morrison, Lawrenceville): "It was so comforting knowing our pets were well taken care of."
(Kathy Blevins, Bethlehem): "I've known Lisa and Ray for 24 years. Lisa has a gift for connecting and communicating with animals and knowing their needs. Over the years I have known them, I have witnessed love and devotion to all of their pets as well as pets of others. With a team like Lisa and Ray, you will never have to worry about your pet's needs, as they will give 110%. Cody, their recent dog adoption, as well as pets in the past, have hit the lottery when selected by Lisa and Ray!"
(Teri Diemer, Lawrenceville): "I've known Lisa and Ray for 15 years. They are gentle, kind, and very responsible people. They treat all of their pets like they are one of the family. I feel confident they would take care of your pets as their own, and respect your home and privacy."
